National Virtual Competition

What is the competition?

At the Denstock Foundation, our goal is to "make music make a difference" by raising funds for music education in underfunded programs while giving local talent an opportunity for exposure.

Since the pandemic outbreak, we have made adjustments in order to virtualize our operations. Over the past three months, we have hosted 12 New York-affiliated artists for Instagram Live performances that each brought in hundreds of viewers and raised thousands of dollars to continue supporting music education and supplying broader educational necessities to families in need during this time of remote learning.

Following our New York City performances, we are now very excited to expand this virtual model across the country in the form of a national musical competition. We are excited to welcome artists from universities across the country to perform for a national following, engage with a national network of musicians and music professionals, and compete to bring in viewers and donations in support of music education. Unlike other opportunities for national exposure, we do not require any contracts or commitments beyond a willingness to participate in this performance and fundraising effort and bring positivity to those struggling in this difficult time.

If you are a motivated music student interested in our mission, we would love for you to join our competition to represent your university. The competition will function like somewhat of a "musical March Madness" in which students will virtually perform on a joint platform, and then compete with performers from other universities to bring in votes and raise donations in support of their performance. During the live performances, you will have an opportunity to do brief interviews with a member of our team in which you can share your work, tell your story, and promote your university’s music education program. The performances can take place from the comfort of your home, or wherever else you are comfortable and able to connect to the internet while maintaining good visual and sound quality.

The winning performers will continue to advance, and the ultimate winning school/performer will be given a percentage of the total funds raised throughout the competition to donate to a music education program at an underfunded grade school local to the university. Additionally, the winning school will have the opportunity to serve as the location of our next in-person concert expansion event once it is safe to resume in-person performances.

If you would like to join our mission and entering this competition to represent your university, please submit the Google form on this page as your official audition entry, and we will be in touch about next steps. Thank you for your interest, and we look forward to seeing you in the competition. Together, we can make music make a difference.
